Full course description
Abstract:
Organizations providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services are faced with the challenge of standardizing clinical services. Clinical treatments are designed by board certified behavior analysts (BCBAs) who receive training from various universities and have different experiences related to the vast range of evidence-based treatment options (e.g., discrete trials x naturalistic teaching). The lack of standardized practices could lead to clients having different experiences depending on the team assigned to the case, and it could create barriers to evaluating the quality of the clinical services. The field of ABA has not yet published clinical standards and payors have yet to standardize ways to evaluate the quality of the services they are funding. The current presentation will describe the steps to building a clinical framework in which clinical standards are developed and implemented, and will present a tool for evaluating the quality of the services delivered.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to describe the steps to building clinical framework for new organizations providing ABA services
- Participants will be able to describe the process for developing clinical standards
- Participants will be able to list indicators of quality clinical services
